WASHINGTON D.C. AT A GLANCE

Picture of a Turkey Vulture
Editorial Observation
An observation – the above turkey vulture could represent any of the three parties in Washington D.C. Obviously, you can make that choice without the help of the editor. With the help of our illustrious Senator from Nebraska, the Senate bill passed. Now, Congress and the Senate will attempt to merge the bills into one bill. It is the editor observation that neither will give in and both bills will be sent to the President. At this point he will select the best that suits his needs.
Both bill will remove about 500 billion from the Medicare fund and be used to help pay for people that do not have insurance. Currently, all of us pay about $95.00 month (2009) and in 2010 the amount will be around $106.00 a month and in 2011 it will be about $120.00 a month. Just recently, the editor had cataract surgery in their right eye. The doctor charged $1800.00 for the surgery. The bill was submitted to Medicare and they paid $500.00 of the bill and the secondary insurance paid $100.00. The eye doctor told me that soon he would no longer be doing this surgery because of the payment.
If what is stated about removing $500 billion from Medicare is true, most doctors will not accept Medicare patients. This will mean that $2 billion will be removed each year to help pay for the new health care bill. As it stands, the secondary insurance will not longer be available to me so that I will be forced into buying a government health plan that may or may not pay any benefits. Also, anticipated, should a person not take out an insurance plan they will be fined. That could be up to $3000.00 fine for not accepting some type of insurance.
As it appears to this editor, the government plans are to eliminate Medicare and Tri-Care for Life for Veterans and provide a government run health care program. This will not happen for a couple of years but it will happen. The current Medicare program then will become dormant and the funds will be used up in the new program – as it appears. If you desire to take a look at the new bill go to www.thomas.gov and the total bill is on line, provided that you have time to read it. It is obvious that the turkey vultures will get their way on this forced health bill. I would not feel comfortable right now if I were in the middle class income bracket as it could cost an additional $10,000 a year for additional taxes. You decide, and vote for the person in 2012 that will represent you and your bill fold!
