Passing through Wood Lake,
Nebraska on Highway 20, blink your eyes and you will miss the
welcome sign at the intersection of Highway 20 and Main Street. Several
years ago, a local resident,
Dan Cozad used his talent and placed a windmill at the corner. Soon after,
flowers, a sign and
an old re-stored wagon was in place to greet and welcome friends and visitors to
Wood Lake. Looking closely,
you will see that the windmill pumps water down to a small pond located about 15
foot from the
mill. After a normal work day on a ranch you will find Dan working on his
welcome sign project.
Not many villages and towns in Nebraska can say they have a welcome mat as nice
as the display
