Dean Soles
Conserving the land through the years
was of utmost importance to Dean. He planted groves of trees
on the ranch and worked toward controlling noxious weeds. But it was clear
to all who knew him: his cows were number one in his ranch life. Dean was
happiest out on his 4-wheeler checking cows.. The Schlueter-Soles Ranch
celebrated their 100th Year in June 1986. The AK-Sar-Ben Pioneer award was
presented to them in August 1986. Memorable events in Dean's life
included celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary and 50th Ainsworth High
School reunion, taking trips with Karen to Hawaii and Alaska, fishing in any
season, and camping at Big Alkali with family He followed his
passion for sporting events all through his life, as well as his love for
meeting new people. Dean new no strangers, only friends that hadn't been
made yet, Dean enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Memorial funds were donated to the Ainsworth, Nebraska Track fund. In
Dean's memory this fund provided the following athletic signs that is placed on
the North side of the Ainsworth track field.
