KING OF QUEENS
Every day a new event takes place at the Wood Lake Cafe. Early morning finds several ranchers enjoying breakfast, fellowship, stories and special events. On June 25, 2009 a special event took place at the cafe. Each Thursday, Bill Sanger, a Bassett resident and business man travels to Wood Lake to enjoy his fellow rancher friends as well as bringing items from the grocery store in Bassett. Now, Bill is a friendly, upfront person that can take the best and hand out the "rest" to his friends. He is humorous, and can match the Wood Lake ranchers on many subjects. On this special day, Larry O'Kief, Joe Mundorf and others presented Bill with an award, "King of Queens" following his recognition of the "outstanding person" Bassett award. Bill richly accepted the plaque award and a box containing the following - paper clip, two pennies, a piece of toilet paper, a piece of candy and a rubber band. This drew much laughter from his Wood Lake friends and the picture below displays his pleasure in receiving this award.
